"My Grown Up Christmas Wish" - Message from Rikki Cargo

As Cargo Royale is a humanitarian company striving to improve the lives of others, I thought that this cause was appropriate for me to blog-especially at this significant time of year: CHRISTMAS! As Cargo Royale is not ready to premier until 2011, I felt that this would satiate my desire to put my foot forward sooner then later. I'm writing to you about a good Christmas cause regarding a dear friend of mine: Dave Paul. Dave found out that his brother (Allen Paul) was just diagnosed with brain cancer this November. I hear of all kinds of cancer, but I can't imagine anything more scary then a tumor in your brain:( Just think about that for a second...

So I will be doing what I can to try and help Dave raise money for his brother. As Allen will be shaving his head as part of his treatment, Dave will be shaving his head with Allen for support, and to raise donations for his brother. I will NOT:) But I will be helping with the fundraising part:)

Allen just had his first surgery, but has months of chemo/radiation therapy ahead of him now. It's a reality check for me when I think about all of the money I've spent on presents and seasons greetings this year-to have "the perfect holiday ever" with my family and friends, while there is someone else out there facing the brutal reality of cancer. That sure puts a damper on Christmas if you ask me!

I am welcoming donations for Allen (all amounts, super small/super big), as well as Christmas tidings for his family-and of course, any clever and effective fundraising ideas. It is my goal to some how, raise $5,000 for Allen Paul before the 25th-that's a week and a half away! (you know I never under-do anything). Your contributions could put a dent in hospital bills, medication and basic family needs... maybe some basic necessities for a growing baby? Hmmm. I think that we'd all like to see his new baby boy grow up with a dad:)

In short, Dave Paul is one of my most favorite people-which fuels my mission. Dave is RAD. I'm always impressed by Dave-he is one of the most unique and down-to-earth people I know. He's modest and humble, and I never hear him complain about anything. He rides a white moped to work-in which he painted black cow spots on:) Am I creating a mental picture here? I've attached a picture above of Allen and Dave-both with their kids. Dave is on the right, Allen is on the left. I have never met Allen, but I know Dave-enough said. Dave's Facebook bio says "Life is good. I believe I am on this earth to try to make people happy; I just try and do my part every day".

If you would like to donate money to help Allen, you can contact myself at philanthropy@cargoroyale.com or Dave directly at dancingpauls@shaw.ca. Truly, what ever method is most convenient for you-by all means just do that:)

If you own a business and have something appropriate to offer from that, ie: a service or auction item, that may also work:) Prayers and sending "White Light" to Allen and his family is great too! Lets all visualize a positive outcome! Nothing is ever gained from negativity;) So far Allen Paul has received two contributions since I started this campaign. Additionally, a volunteer (Suzanne Wemp) has contacted me and has created a donative, fund raising website for the cause here: http://www.alpaul.ca Thanks Suzanne!

Please pass this on to anyone you like and make it a meaningful holiday.

And this is my "Grown Up Christmas Wish".

Namaste,

Rikki Cargo
